2000 Trimbach Gewurtztraminer

Yellow with a light golden tint. Spice -- some clove and allspice -- and pear on the nose. Medium-plus body, lots of warm spice on the tongue. Some citrus and nectarine notes. This is very nicely balanced, smooth while having some substance, overall a great wine. I drank this for the "spice" tasting in Great Wines Made Simple and it worked perfectly. I brought all the spices she mentions out of the cabinet and compared them directly to the wine. That's how I was able to pick out the clove and allspice.

Way to go, Joey. I love a Gewurz with real spice elements.

Trimbach is always a solid performer for the price class.

I drink Weinbach preferably, but also more pricy.

I'll try the Weinbach. Also from Alsace?

I suggested the Trimbach Gewurztraminer to go with our seafood at Legal Seafood in Washington DC earlier in December. My friend Sallie loved it and will be looking for it to buy. It is a very nice, reliable brand and more easily found than some of the other Alsace Gewurz.
