Christina, welcome to the Board. You've asked a question with a wide range of possible answers.

"Shelf life" depends primarily on 2 things: 1)appropriate storage, & 2)aging potential according to type of wine. Appropriate storage involves temperature & humidity considerations. Aging potential varies widely: some wines are intended to be consumed immediately, some after a couple of years, & a few may be stored for decades. Good champagnes can last a few years in proper storage.
