($8.99) a tempranillo/cab/merlot blend, this deep purplish/red wine had a pretty closed nose, even after 1.5 hours of decanting. wine had a light mouthfeel, with dark fruits and spicy earth, and a fair bit of tannins. finish was short, but it just didn't seem to me that it was being cut off by the tannins. RP has always loved this wine, giving this vintage a 92. i'd say that's being way too generous. at present, i'd say it's about an 86 with the potential to improve, but i don't think it will end up anywhere near RP's score. a pretty good bottle for the price, but not good enough for me to want to buy more.

After seeing this post, I looked back over my notes from when I had this about a month ago. I also found it closed, and it seemed disjointed to me. I let it sit for a day and found that it had rounded off and the fruit started to show. Still, though, I did not go back to buy any more. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one a bit disappointed with it.

I had the 99 a week or two back. Was quite impressed. I went back for more and it was sold out as was the Full Moon by Midnight Cellars that I wanted more of. I guess waiting when you find a low cost winner (or two) is a poor idea! I am quite dissapointed.

I just cracked my first bottle of the 2000. It is not quite up to the 99. I really enjoyed the 99 and am a bit dissapointed with the 00.

I had this also and me thinks it needs time to settle down. At least a year and probably much better in 2-4 years. I found it dense but clumsy but like I said it just came into the country shipped here & there so a nice long nap might be the remedy.
