Ok, little background first....I'm new to wines and this forum, I've made a post concerning ratings and "dananne" has given me good advise and recomendations. I've been unable to find his recomendations as yet, but I did purchase this bottle and I would like to post my impressions.

I felt this bottle had a strong fruit aroma with a good dose of pepper, it didn't seem to become more aromatic with time in the glass. Tasting brought to mind some fruit ( I can't identify) and a hint of "sherry" to my tast. The tannins were smooth and the finish was moderately long (15-20 sec.) It seemed quite acidic to me as well.

I had a relativly strong Blue cheese from Denmark with it and interestingly the spicy tast dissapeared and the fruit became very muted.

My wife and I enjoyed the experiment but I can't say we loved this wine.....but, it was a hell of a lot more accessible at $8.99 a bottle then the $50 bottle of Reserva I purches first to try Spanish wines.

So, any one have this wine? and if so were your impressions similar to mine.

I have tried the '01 Codice, but it didn't do too much for me. I really liked the '99, which was packed with fruit and which tempted me to give the '00 a shot. Those I found kinda smokey and lacking in the fruit that I enjoyed so much in the '99s. So, to me, since '99 they've been frustratingly inconsistent.

As IK said, keep exploring!

And, happy holidays!
