Playing catch-up with tasting notes, these are a couple of Spanish wines we enjoyed recently. Though neither are stellar, both are good QPR wines for daily-drinking winter enjoyment, and they'll handle most winter fare, from roasted meats to stews, etc. We paired them well with vegetarian shepherd's pie. Both are Spanish Monastrell (Mourvedre) and show a spicy blend of red and black fruits, medium body, some dusty tannins, and good acidity. They seem widely available, and will likely offer enjoyment for those who like to fill up a cart of inexpensive Spanish wines at the wine shop. Both run sub-$10 and were 14.5% alc.
