Bodegas Roda 2004 Roda 1 Reserve

Intense nose, I smelled this as it was being poured about 6 feet from me. Very dark in colour, opaque. First impressions are that this is a very nicely made and densely flavoured wine. But it is the texture that is very different. I tis very very vvery smooth, slightly off-dry, tannic and structured. It is a rather modern approach to Rioja. Nicely done but don't reach for this if you are looking for a traditional rioja. Having said that, I bought a few to bring back to the US with me.
