I was surprised that this was grown here. Nice deep color but it tasted like a new world tempranillo. Wine was focued with red fruit, cherry and a hint of secondary flavours. On the palate, the same with some tobacco. Decent structure but may not be a long termer.

It was interesting. In all honestly, it tasted like a Californian style traditional Rioja. It was not overdone, It was reasonably balanced but it had this (if it makes sense), grinning smile on it from the californian sunshine..... I thought it was interesting.

More and more folks are tinkering with it here, including folks in Washington state, as we discovered during our visit last summer. IMHO, the best domestic Tempranillo comes from Abacela, a S. Oregon winery located in the Umpqua Valley. If you ever run across it, give it a whirl. BTW, thanks for the notes on this Viader.
