Went out for dinner with some friends (it's nice to be home for a few weeks...). KC, if you like Tapa's try this one if you have not. It's called Solea in Waltham. ABout as authentic a tapas list and the paella's are nicely done....better than some I had in Spain....

The wine list was very nice as well, nothing topping $60 a bottle. We have a couple of bottles of the Alion which were priced at $50 a bottle..... that's cheaper then when I bought it retail two years ago......

Anyways, I'll be going back a lot

The wines was very nice. We asked them to decant it right when we arrived and it helped flesh out the wine. On opening, great nose, floral, elegant, sweet, spicy, hiding the density of the wine. On the palate, this wine was full of spices, asian spices, cinnamon, some walnut shell, and then moving to some red and dark berries, cherries, and then finishing off with coffee. Very dense full body wine, but with a nice interaction of tightly made pure wine and the rustic rough mature of tempranillo still evident. Very nice wine for the price.

I've had two of these bottles from my cellar over the course of the last couple of weeks. THis wine is still in exactly the same shape as the one back in '08. what a solid performer. if the price as a bit lower, it would be great qPR.

RE: 2002 Alion
Finding that when I get lazy and don't want to think about picking a wine, my walk invariable leads me to the spanish corner. Yesterday night was same thing, pulling out the few remaining ones of these.

Drinking impeccably well, no changes in notes, just a happy consumer. Watching the news while reading a mag and just sipping
