Nice bargain wine, as many from Jumilla are. This one is dark red to purple in color, with a black cherry and plum nose, and it shows good dark fruit flavors with a prickly spiciness, wrapped in tannins that begin to melt after some airing. Long finish adds vanilla oak. 13.5% alc. Paid $9. It can age a bit, too. Recommend decanting, or be very careful with the last glass, as you could end up with a mouthfull of sediment. This one merits a "buy again."

Has anyone tried the '04? I picked this up at Cost Plus for $6. I googled it, and found about 3 different answers to the varietal. Monstrell, moudrevre(sp) and tempranillo. My guess is it's the first one. Very good everyday drinking. Great with spicy foods and would also be great steak. Definitely can use some decanting. Good tannins. Black cherry nose. I'll definitely be getting more of this!

Mourvedre and Monastrell are the same. Mourvedre = France; Monastrell = Spain. Also, the same grape is called Mataro in America and Australia.

Haven't had the '04 either. So I'm curious about this as well.
