How would you rate this red wine?

Im impressed at your resume sir. Maybe you can help me on what I really look for in a red spanish im searching for. A nice, dry red moderately fruity taste and easy in the mouth where drinking it is no strain. Pardon me, I like wine but never really savoured it until recently in my forties.

Now I really like it.

I'll add my welcome to the board. A search down this forum for other discussions of Spanish wines will turn up quite a few. Yet distribution is so haphazard that you may not be able to find all that is available in the Lower 48. Suggest you browse your shops, sample a few, and make notes on what you like and don't like, and ask further questions. We'll be glad to help.

2003 Mestizaje, Bobal. This is a very delicious and affordable Spanish red. Around $10.

2003 Bellum "Providencia" as well as it's slightly lesser sibling 2004 Barahonda...both unbelievable for under $15.

Depends on your level of interest and experience in wine. I work for the Torres family. I have served Sangre de Toro at many family events and donated it to groups for fundraising purposes. It is always weel received.

Sometimes the problems with asking that kind of question on a board like this is much of the time you are talking to who have forgotten the fact that 85 - 90% of the consumers out there are very happy dring very bad wines from different parts of the world, mainly California and Australia. If you put Sangre de Toro in front of them most will be very please and you can see the quiality to price ratio is high. For someone to say it's like paint thinner that will usually mean they have never had the wine oe have not had it in many years and they want to to be impress by their wine savy...


Would I order Sangre de Toro if I was out trying to impress some one? Perhaps not but for something to have around the home it is a pleasant wine.

I commented on the '02 bottling in April of '04 (http://www.wines.com/ubb2/Forum19/HTML/000122.html). Felt I was being kind by saying it would probably be a good bbq wine. Still feel it would probably suit someone in that role - but not me. Found it much too tannic with insufficient fruit. Will try to remember to give away the one remaining bottle.

And no, we don't have spellcheck.

Wow.... I've never heard that said about the wine. What do you normally drink and enjoy?
