1997 Abrazo Reserva, Carinena (DDO) ($9.99 Belfast Coop). This came in to Maine by one of our larger distributors, so that should mean wide distribution. It was imported by Esser Wines of St. Helena, CA. It is a Garnacha-Tempranillo blend, weighing in at 13.5% alcohol. Gave you all this info because it is simply splendid.

Picked it up yesterday for the sole reason of going with macaroni & cheese, and spinich tonight, which it did in spades. Gives you black cherries on the nose and tongue tip. Raspberries and chocolate are included in the velvety smooth complexity across the palate. Rich finish completes the process. Exceptional.
