QPR alert here!!! Beautifully dark in the glass, not opaque. Floral nose of spicy raspberry. Deep flavors, from old vine Grenache, of spicy black fruit, raspberry, black cherry, blackberry, white pepper and subtle earthy nuances. The finish is long and slightly tannic and a little heat from the 14.5% Alc/vol. Paid $10.50 after a 15% discount but see it advertised farther west as low as $7.99. I'm stockn' up.

Thanks for the notes -- I've got a few bottles of it in the cellar that I've not tried yet.

Finally got around to trying this. Completely different profile than the Capcanes that I posted on yesterday. This one is probably simpler, but more approachable now, with nice, round fruit. I also got the raspberry nose, though black fruits and plum flavors. I noticed the little bit of heat on the finish, also. Picked mine up for $12. Probably prefer some other old viney stuff, but this is a nice quaffer. Glad I have a few more bottles of it.

Popped an '04 today for lunchtime dinner. Paid a whopping $16 for it a rather pricy upscale joint in Portsmouth that my brother suggested called Ceres Street Wine Merchants.

Regardless of price this is still a very nice wine, even at 14.5% alcohol. Gives losta berries on the nose and upfront. Concentrated black and strawberries, along with plums, shoeleather, oak, and Borsao dirt course the palate. The finish is very pleasant and lengthy.

Matched it with loin ends teriyaki, rice pilaf, and zucchini with tomatoes and things. All very nice with an almost perfect match.

In the most recent issue of the Speculator, that '04 got a 90, FWIW.

We popped an '05 tonight. The only big difference was the price: $11.99 in a NH Liq Store. It was just about the same as the '04. Matched it with Sweet & Sour Eggpant Soba.

Great and probably too great a Friday night.

Popped an '06 tonight which cost $10.99 at the NH Liq Store. It was on sale for $2 off.

Still a wonderful wine with well integrated 14.5% alcohol.

Matched it with Giada's Linguine with Shrimp and Lemon Oil. Simply great for a Friday night.

Second of two '06s last night with two inch think boneless pork chops grilled over hardwood charcoal and mesquite chips, baked sweet potato, and sliced tomatoes with basil and viniagrette. Wonderful.

I think this wine would go with just about anything!
