Bought a case couple of days ago. Black red purple. Seems a touch more rustic and slightly heady compared to the previous 3 vintages. Deep crushed raspberry, dark fruit, licorice hints and earthy nuances. Very nice and a great QPR. 14.5%Alc/vol. $86 for the case.

That is a very nice wine year in and year out. Glad someone is drinking wine these days and just ranting and raving.

Have not yet seen the '04 in these parts, and I've still got a nice stash of '03s, but I'll be looking for it. Thanks for the TN.

Sickening - (I think) the same wine in BC:

The only thing that hints that it might be different is the "Calatayud" - AND THAT IT'S 150% MORE EXPENSIVE! ARGH!

CALATAYUD GARNACHA - LAS ROCAS DE SAN ALEJANDRO 2003
SKU #163568 / UPC #00805109270039
Product Information
Price: $15.95

I think you can thank import duties and a bit of government inefficienies for that.

Popped an '06 last night. It ran $8.99 in the local NH Liq Store. Alcohol level: 14.5%. This baby just keeps on rolling along. You can count on it as a steady player every year.

Matched it with mac and cheese, and green peas. Very nice.

El cheapo night to night! This is my last bottle of the case that I bought of this one and it's still standing up pretty good. Nice find at $8.99. I remember the first vintage that it came out (01) and it was selling for $3.99 at tables n vines in North Adams....

Since you started it, I must have been the mind that was melded to therefore you are vulcan!!!!

I must say that anytime I finish off the last bottle of a case I really liked, i think of two things

(1) i hope that the last bottle is not corked!
(2) it feels like the end of a journey and I wish I had more to see its evolution.

That is saying a lot when it a sub $100 case.

Popped the first of three '08s in the cellar. It is 100% up to par. Loads of fruit and a 14.1 kick of alky. Yummy. We matched it with Romanian Flank Steak (marinated with EVOO, pepper, and grandulated garlic for most of the day in fridge), grilled over charcoal and mesquite chips. For sides we had corn on the cob and a salad with mostly local veggies. Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday night!

Enjoyed another tonight with Mac & Cheese; made with a sauce of Manchego and goat milk for an all Spanish dinner.

The '08 seems to be peaking and is absolutely delicious if you can find one. We matched it last night with lamb shanks and linguini. Yum!
