My quest for pre-aged vino continues with this lucky find at a local wine shop. I was going to put up some TN's last night, but after attending a friends wedding and having afew glasses of the 2002 Montana Chardonnay (Nice, mouth-filling quaffer which complemented the buffets chicken dish beautifuuly.) and a taste of the Montana 2001 Cab Sav Merlot (Easy on the oak, quite more-ish and definatly drinkable.), plus a celebratory dram of The MaCallen (Uhh.. can I give a TN for Scotch on this board? Too bad, I will anyway... Unbelievably smooth, smoky and with an aroma that made my mouth water like Pavlovs' pooch.), I figured I'd best wait a while to give a true assesment.

Deep bronzey gold in the glass, honey and apricot (And perhaps even a little peach)aromas, and liquid silk on the tongue. A nice, "waxy" feel to it. (A description I read on another Noble Semillon, but it fits here too.) A steal at NZ$16.95 for a 375ml bottle.

Skeeters Tasting Notes say: Wait, they had a '96 Babich Late Harvest Chardonnay in stock as well? Life is good.

Understand every word, Skeets. Had a snort of Highland Park 18-year-old last nite my-very-own-self. Single-Malts are always in the weeners cellar. WW

I enjoy the PL Semillon. I've never had a bad experience with a Lehmann wine, and wish they were distributed in Alabama.

I don't know that I have seen any Montana (Brancott aux Etats-Unis) reds, though the Chardonnay and SB are widely available.
