yah.. Augusta is West of the 'burbs, about 20 minutes off 40 and 94 in the little dip the Missouri river takes. It was, oddly enough, the first federally approved AVA in the country, 8 months before Napa!

I've long thought that Mt. Pleasant was the best in the area, but their prices are getting obscene ($35 for their most recent Norton, $50 for the Tawny Port) and Augusta winery and Montelle are getting better and staying afforadable. Montelle's dry vignoles was also worthy of notice.

The area is definitely worth a visit if anyone passes through St. Louis.
