A brief history: you know that forum that's listed as Jerry's Kids? Jerry Mead is the fellow who got this bb off the ground in the late '90s. Jerry was the truest character of characters you could imagine, in or out of the wine world. He also was the world's best libertine. He published the Wine Trader, an irreverent look at an often too seriously flawed industry and subject.

Some of us have been on this bb since back then.

There are three general reasons for my posts having slacked off over the past couple of years.

1. I get tired of saying much of the same things ove and over--I get enough of that in the classes that I teach about wine.

2. My style of discourse is direct. A lot of novices have found directness too negative for their taste--rather than change, I decided they could do without my information.

3. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that tasting notes, though interesting, can often be beffudling. I find it far more interesting to discuss the more objective things about wine rather than the subjective.
