hi, new to the board and wines in general...

i was cleaning out my grandma's house the other day and found a VERY old bottle of wine which i have a few questions about...

it happens to be a 1935 bottle of Port i think. the lable has the date of course plus Monte Cristo. also California, produced and bottled by Roma Wine Company, Inc. Lodi, CA.

the bottle is not sealed with a cork either. strangly it seems to just have a metal cap on top of the glass. it is definately sealed though, since the top of the cap budges out slightly like the contents are under pressure. are caps like this common? do they actually work?

i'm assuming the wine is QUITE bad since it is like 70 years old, although i'm curious how bad it really is, i think i am going to keep it (forever?) and just show it off as a VERY old bottle of wine.

anyone got any comments on what i've said?
