Welcome to the board, HT. Most of us aim for a storage environment that has stable temperature in the 55-57F range, relative humidity (RH) of 60-70%, is dark and vibration-free. Large deviation from any of those norms can cause problems for your wines. For example, high RH can cause the glue holding bottle labels to loosen and the labels to fall off; lower temps can retard the development of your wines in bottle; consistent vibration can cause a wine to exhibit a "bruised" taste; etc. You can read more down in the Cellar/Storage thread below.
