1973 was a tough year for Champagne, but some good bottles were made that had a 20 year life. Champagne is very fragile. Assuming your bottle was stored in optimal conditions, it MAY still be enjoyable, but it is pretty long in the tooth. Pop the cork, pour a glass, play "Thank God and Greyhound He's Gone" on the stereo, then post a note on how the wine was!
