If you want to find out more about Ecco-Domani and Carlo Rossi, go to www.ejgallo.com. You'll find out that the E-C Merlot has about 10% Primitivo, which is a kin of Zinfandel to give the Merlot some body, and it's a dry wine at .4% residual sugar. Paisano is the lightest red wine the Carlo Rossi brand makes, but they don't tell you what the grapes are inside. The residual sugar is 1.4%, so it's a much sweeter wine, probably to mask the taste of the unknown grapes. We sell a lot of this wine, mostly to local college and university grad students who are on minimalist budgets, but also to older folks who remember the Carlo Rossi commercials back in the 60's and 70's.
