There is, literally, TONS of nice wine out there priced under $10. Strike up an aquaintance with a friendly wine shop person in your area, help them get to know what you like about the wines you taste and let them guide you to stuff that works well for you. The Shaw is made to be soft, fruity, and undemanding. The $50 bottle is not. There are different goals at work in the winemaking. You'll find a $50 bottle you like one day, when you're ready for it.
