A white Meursoult

Again, i'm a novice...while dining in the Netherlands on business last week, our host ordered a French white Meursoult (might be mispelled). I thought it was absolutely incredible. I sent him an e-mail asking for the specifics on the wine, and all he sent back was a note saying it was a Meursoult. Isn't Meursoult simply the region within France....wouldn't i need to know the specific details of the winery, etc. in order to order a bottle?
