I guess I shall be forced to do this once again.

What Dutton refers to is that the word "wine," when traced to its roots, technically refers to the result of fermented grape--it is a word that dates to the Phoenicians. It is the same with caviar, which is a word taken form the Turkish to mean, specifically, sturgeon roe, and no other fish egg.

Call it fermented raspberry, call it fermented strawberry, call it fermented blueberry (and I have tasted some fantastic ones) but do not call it fruit wine; aside from it being redundant, it has the distinction of also being wrong, technically.
