But Port is fortified having a higher alcohol content than wine.

Try a gamay from California or a Beaujolais from France. These are light red wines with lots of fruit although they are still dry.

You might also look into some of the young wines from the Rhone in France. Cotes du Rhone or Cotes du Rhone Villages, again dry red wines but they have a lot of good dark red fruit flavors to them.

You could also try White Zinfandel.
