Hello CMike,

Even though you are going to be drinking Cab (left bank) from Bordeaux you will notice a difference between them and California.

I would definately drink them with food for they are more "earthy" than the "fruit foward" wines you are used to.

Another thing that is worth mentioning is that because Bordeaux is a blend (always will be) you should see a significant price difference between them and the American Meritage. The Meritage will have the same grapes in it just a different style and sometimes 3x the price.

Explore Bordeaux. I think you will enjoy it.
