American domestic equivalent of a bordeaux

I have been to Paris, France the past few years and while not an experienced wine drinker, I do LOVE the bordeaux wines from France. I am trying to find an American equivalent to those wines. Could you point me in a general direction of the type(s) I could try here in America? Thank you so much.
