Cabernet Sauvignon is a hybrid, since it's a natural cross of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. This happened many hundreds of years ago. Cabernet Franc can be traced back about 2000 years to Biturica grape vines brought to Gaul (France) by the Romans. Other varieties, such as Merlot and Malbec, can trace their origins back to the Biturica also. Cabernet Franc was named back about the early 1700's, and Cabernet Sauvignon about the same time. However, there has not been a grape called just Cabernet.
