Are you looking for wine simply as a special occasion item or are you ready to try wine for near everyday consumption? If the latter, you will give away a lot of money before you start to get the proper return value, until you learn more about wine. For instance, that Opus 1 that so many people drool over is, in my opinion, not worth half of what it costs. Over my lifetime, which is fast becoming considerable, I have tasted hundreds of wines that equal or better Opus 1, and at far fewer dollars.

It is easy to find $100 bottles of decent wine, but it is more fun, and worth more effort, to find decent wine at far less cost--from $15 to $25 a bottle. Are you interested in that? If so, many of us can come up with them.
