If you are in a large city check with your local wine stores for tastings. Some even offer beginner classes. This way you can learn how to drink wine and what wines you like. It will also give you access to a wide variety of wines without spending a lot of money. Don't be shy letting people know you are new to wine. Wine lovers love to share there knowledge, sometimes too much.
