Welcome! Those are great books to start out with. Of course wines.com has an extensive learning area to dive into with a glass of wine in hand. I would add that a few of us here on this board have websites worth checking out as well! Foodie has some great wines with food pairings at <www.is-wine.com>. I do a little writing/reviews for <www.winesquire.com> (& much more to come from me on my own site.)And Bucko has many handy wine reviews at <www.wineloverspage.com>.
Just from these three sites you can find links to probably twenty more sites and then twenty more....

BTW- Andrea's (one of her books is suggested above)website also offers some good info
<www.andreaimmer.com> and her new wine buying guide for 2004 is just out, a handy guide for any wine lover.
