Jane...All four states you mentioned do have wineries, although NV and HI only have one apiece...IL only has a few...OR has quite a few. 96, 97 & 98 are all current vintages with which you should have no problem finding. 1994 from Oregon will be a little trickier...maybe someone's Reserve Pinot Noir would be that old.

You can go to a website at www.tastings.com and check out its "Yellow Pages" section which provides a winery directory of some 1200 wineries...not all there is in the US but a pretty good chunk of what there is.

Re wines you might like for starters...try wines labeled White Zinfandel, White or Johhannisberg Riesling or Gewurztraminer (Fetzer's has a nice level of sweetness you should like). Also try Riunite Lambrusco or Soleo Vineyard Berry (the latter is one of the new flavored wines and is very inexpensive...you can even drink it on ice).
