Have found that CK Mondavi makes nice journeyman cabernet and chardonnay that are suitable for large events in 1.5 liter bottles. Yes, the chardonnay is an oak bomb, and the cabernet lacks varietal character, but when you are in a room or under a tent with one or two hundred people, and a huge variety of finger food, who cares?
