Hi Ily, and welcome to the Wine Board. Don't know where you live, but it must be a strange place if the only red wine available is Marques de Caceres. It, though not my "desert island" wine, is far from what I would call nasty. What do you mean? Was it harsh, bitter, pungent? It could have been tainted. I guess if we recommended anything else, you will have to special order it, since the Marques is the only thing around where you live. Try to find a Port, a real one from Portugal. You can get a decent one for $12-14. They are sweet and fruity. Have a glass after dinner or with dessert. Keep it in the refrigerator with the cork in it.
