Welcome to the board.

As a guy, any wine that my GF would buy me would be a great bottle of wine.

What you bought was an italian sparkling wine that is slightly sweet. You mention that your BF liked wine. Do you know what type? As a wine, it is not the best but certainly has mass appeal to those how don't necessarily like wine....ie, generally not one that would be purchased for a wine lover. But then again if he cherishes the relationship, he'll love it!
