Buying Wine for my Dad..

The thing was my dad went to a winery with a friend of his, and he had some red wine that he actually liked it. He always thought that red wines tasted fruity and he doesn't like fruity drinks. But I guess the one he drank was to his liking and bought a bottle. If I knew what bottle he bought I would get him that but I didn't see the bottle.

Also my dad asked me to find him a good red wine but since I don't drink too often I really don't know what to get him.
The only wine I bought and drank was merlot, and even that I didn't pick out I just paid for it.

as for price wise I was thinking up to $40
being cheaper would be better for me though

but if there are a few at $15 i could prob get him 2 of them so he can find one he really likes.
