MQ,

IMHO, I'm not sure that drinking alcohol is going to be the answer in the long run. It could help you to sleep through the night but it may well disturb one or more of the stages in your sleep cycle. As a result, you may sleep throughout the night but wake up feeling "less" rested!

I'm thinking a nice warm bath a few hours before bedtime and a glass of milk would be more beneficial. The milk contains tryptophan which helps you to sleep more naturally.. Turkey meat also contains this chemical.

Perhaps, Bucko will have better insight on this issue since he's a practicing physician.

That said... I agree with what Winegroucho has suggested in his posting. A small glass of Auslese would be easy to get use to...

Or, try a glass of sparkling wine such as the Marchesi de Gresey La Serra. It has a "relatively" low alcohol content but is quite easy to drink. (I just served this to a group of non-wine drinkers at a 50th birthday party and it was received quite well by the guests.)

The essence here is that it's suppose to help you relax before bedtime...

[Bear in mind that, for some folks, a glass of wine can give them a headache and trying to sleep with a headache is not much fun. So, you might have to experiment a bit to find a wine that "agrees" with you.

Good luck

So many wines... so little time!

Cheers
