Late Saturday I was on my second favorite wine store (Total Wine & More) and bought (on impulse) a 375ML bottle of Chateau La Jorine 2002 ($5.99). This is a Bordeaux 85%Merlot and some Cab Franc. The nose was typical Bordeaux Minerals (pencil shavings), black fruit, and oak. Not bad. But the big shock was when I taste the wine. It was so tannic that it did not have any flavor at all! My first thought was that this is what a person new to wine will feel when drinking a red wine for the first time... Now I understand why they use the word "bitter" to describe the tannin shock.

I'm thinking that this wine is one of those that need 10 or 20 years on a cellar. The last few drop of the wine was little mellower but still going strong.
