Hi There!

So glad you found us and are interested in wine.

I have to ask if you are drinking wines alone or if you are drinking them with food. It makes a big difference.

I'm going to ask you to get some mild cheese, maybe a gouda or the baby bell cheeses. Try the wines, any wines, then take a bite of the cheese and try the wine again. The wine should change.

Are you opposed to red? For red I would start with Pinot Noir. This has a lot of fruit and the tannins should be mild. (In case you don't know about tannin - it's the ingredient that actually makes your mouth dry, like tea. Tea is loaded with tannin.) You can also try a Chianti Classico. Neither of these wines will be very expensive and they will be very different. The Chianti definately should be consummed with food!

As for whites, I would play around with the Chardonnays of the world. If you have a local wine store ask them for an oaked and unoaked version of the grape. You will be amazed at what the oak will do with this grape.

If you tend to like sweeter wines I would definately head into the German section of the store. These wines will not be expensive and the key is (generally) the lower the alcohol the sweeter the wine will be. Just a rule of thumb mind you. The retailer should be able to guide you.
