Hi Catwina and welcome to the board. 97 % of wines produced are meant to be consumed on release.Wines that are meant for ageing are normally produced in small quantities by botique producers. There are exceptions of course. Yes the fruit is superior, the winemaking more personal and the whole process has some history on its' siode. To give a rule of thumb that's also fraught with exceptions, grocery store wines are meant to be drunk on purchase,ie, most wines in the 20 buck and under catagory. There isn't a really concrete definative answer. WW
