Good Morning Friar,

Welcome to the wineboard!

You have made a very important discovery. There are two different styles of wine

Old World = the earthiness of Bordeaux

New World = the fruit bombs of California

The nice thing is that a nice little Bordeaux will cost you far less than a Meritage of California made with the same grapes.

If you go back to the first page of this board and scroll down you will see an entire section of this board dedicated to Bordeaux.
If you click on the down arrow it will go from posts from the past 20 days to all posts. There are many wines reviewed and recommended.

Old world wines include Italy. I'm guessing you will like Chianti, Rosso di Montalcino, Montepulciano and Barbera as well.
