Hello Dicegrrl. I can not help you with any specifics. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can offer more, but some thoughts to have are:

How were they stored when you got them? If they were not stored on their side in a cool dark place, that could ruin them.

What do you know about the person you "inherited" them from? Are they the type of person who would have invested money into more than an $8 bottle? An inexpensive bottle will usually stay that way and is not meant to be aged extended periods.

Make a list of what you have and see if the local store has anything like them. If you have a bottle of (example purposes) Yellowtail Chardonay '04 and they carry the '06, the value would not be that different.
