Also, there are a lot of wineries within driving distance -- good places to go practice after you have finished your class -- or before! A couple to the south near Santa Cruz (Bonny Doon is one of my favorites, and they have a lot of different varieties and styles) and all those wonderful places in Napa and Sonoma to the north. Lucky you!
Also, Stanford is close; maybe they offer extension classes... Also local wine shops may offer tastings or classes. And Sur La Table shops sometimes offer these types of classes... Call around...
