It's been a long time since I've had cassis (liqueur from black currants). You might be able to get a shot of one in a cocktail lounge if you don't want to buy a bottle. I refreshed my memory of the aroma by getting some black currant tea bags. They do have that definite aroma. For gooseberries (often mentioned in relation to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc) I bought some gooseberry jam at the grocery store. I have also seen red currant and black currant jam. (I haven't done the guava tasting yet--also mentioned in relation to some Sauvignon Blancs.)
