Not that anybody really cares, but there must be a point (actually, probably many points along the wine path), where a light goes on, or something clicks, or maybe just the pallet is maturing, but twice in the past week, I've correctly identified a varietal!!

The first episode was on an airplane (1st class so it actually comes from a normal bottle...I fly too much for work). I asked for Red Wine without asking what it was. I sipped a bit and said to myself Cabernet Sauvignon, and later I asked to see the bottle, and it was a California Central Coast Cab by Moss something?

Second episode was at a Seattle Restaurant. We ordered a 1998 De Lille D2, it’s a Washington Bordeaux blend, but the percentages weren’t stated on the bottle, but I thought for sure it was a Merlot dominate blend, and after checking the web, sure enough, the D2 is usually about 50% Merlot.

Sorry to be a bore, just happy to be making progress in this adventure.
