I would go with a nice Chardonay. Preferably a cheap white burgundy. Had one with fet. alf. the other night and it was quite good.

1998 Bouchard Pere & Fils Macon-Villages
1999 Zenato Lugana

The second is not a chard, but a readily available italian wine that should also fit the bill. Both are friendly, fruity, have some acid and just a touch of creaminess on the finish which should match with your fet. alf. And the best part is, both are under 10 bucks! Then you can spend the rest of your budget on the bubbly. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img]

As far as the bubbly, if you can find a half bottle of Pol Roger NV, it should be around 20 and is dang good stuff. My wife's fav.
