I get a few wines at the Harris-Teeter grocery store here. The only one I thought might have been damaged by storing upright was a 1998 wine. The 1999 and others probably were not sitting on the shelf as long. For more expensive wines ($35-50), I would prefer to buy from a shop where they are stored on their sides. Let us know if you succeed in placing some higher end wines in the store and how they fare. Special storage for the more expensive wines as IK suggested would be good.
