Good old King Ludwig... he's one of my favourite historical nutters. Went harmlessly insane, to the point of having plays performed for him in empty theatres, while he sat behind a curtain in the royal box and peeked out at the stage.

He eventually drowned himself, along with the shrink who commited him.
