Wine Storage

I've been searching around the board a bit and reading about storing wine. Now, I thought I was pretty cool to have 2 wine racks (small), but now it seems that having them displayed in my great room (temp around 70 degrees) is not such a good idea. Up till now, I've been drinking it faster than worrying about storing it, but with all the great recommendations on this board for various varieties, I'm actually accumulating several bottles.

So...what's a good starting point for a novice like me, in regard to purchasing a modest storage unit that will keep the wine at a lower temperature? And where do you keep these storage units? Are they attractive enough to display?
