It is a type of wine produced in Puglia, Italy (the boot). It is made from a blend of grapes including negrano (sp?) and primitivo (similar if not the same as Zinfandel). It's styles vary a bit but is a bit fruity and earthy. Its a great wine for hamburgers, pizza, and other tomato based sauces. Its usually inexpensive (which is very nice) and quite tastey. Some common, quality producers are Taurino and Agricole Valone (not sure if the last one is spelled correctly but will update with the proper name).
