If you are going to drink the rest soon, some wines, even by type, do better than others. Get ahold of one of Andrea Immer's Wine Buying Guides (the '05 is out there, and the '06 should be so soon). She reviews hundreds of widely distributed wines and gives longevitey ratings (among many other evaluations) for them by brand and by type. These range from overnight to up to six days by simply replacing the cork.
